In November & December of 2017, NZQA will present a series of Saturdayroadshow events in Christchurch, Wellington, and Auckland. The purpose of these events will be to build sector capability by increasingawareness of the NZCEL qualifications, unit standards, and the MoE's ESOLresources. During the day there will also be workshop sessions on identifyingEnglish proficiency level (via the CEFR) and assessment design. These eventsprovide a platform for professional exchange within and across the secondaryand tertiary sectors. The programme will be made up of interactive sessionsgiving teachers and providers the information and tools necessary forconsistent assessment practice.
At this stage we are attempting to gauge interest in such an event in yourarea. Please respond to the this survey so that we may ascertain yourinterest.

At the AGM in Hamilton, 2016, the following remit, proposed by CANTESOL was approved:
That TESOLANZ communicates with the Ministry of Education and NZQA requesting that they evaluate current language learning and assessment opportunities for secondary school learners from culturally and linguistically rich and diverse backgrounds, and investigate ways to enhance the opportunities. In response to this remit, a working party was set up and a submission was then sent to NZQA and MOE.
