Job Description: The MCLaSS (Multicultural Learning and Support Services) Homework Club for secondary school students is looking for an Arabic speaking teacher aide.

The role would involve helping Arabic speaking students one-on-one to further their English and complete their homework tasks. Individual help is not limited to Arabic speaking students and may extend to other students.

The homework club runs from 4-6pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the school term so the successful candidate would need to be available during those hours (four hours a week). Strengthen TESOL capability and programmes at the ICFP teacher training college and enhance education across communities

Instituto Católico Para a Formação de Professores (ICFP) established in 2000 is the main institute offering the Bachelor of Teaching (primary) in Bacau. The Ministry of Education wishes English language to be taught in all primary schools throughout Timor-Leste and ICFP needs to ensure their graduates are up to the task.

As a result, ICFP is seeking a volunteer TESOL specialist to oversee the process of teaching of specialised staff, general staff and trainee teachers, resulting in improved outcomes for years 7, 8 and 9 primary school students. In this assignment you will assess the needs of English language teachers using train the trainer approach, supporting them to implement a programme to support general teaching staff improve TESOL in their courses.

You will also assist ICFP staff in developing and delivering lessons using a child centred approach, demonstrating how to use TESOL at different education levels. Utilising your programme development and teaching experience you will review course materials for cultural and age appropriateness, as well as mentor ICFP students while on practicum in local schools.

Your valuable contribution to this assignment will not only benefit the 37 Timorese staff and 165 teaching students at ICFP, but improve education outcomes and the livelihoods of children and their families.

We are looking for a volunteer with:

· Tertiary qualification in teaching English as a second language for adults

· Experienced trainer and mentor in a tertiary education context

· Experience modelling student centred reflective learning practice

· Experience conducting training needs assessments and developing resources for new and beginning English teachers
