A Permanent Fulltime Senior Adviser, ESOL position is available in the Auckland office of the Ministry of Education.
In this role you will support schools to enhance teacher capability and the provision of high quality ESOL programmes. Our team is responsible for overall management of ESOL services to schools. This includes the allocation of resourcing, supporting ESOL programmes and implementing new initiatives to meet the English language learning needs of migrants, refugees, and international students.
In this role you will:
· work to build an understanding of emerging issues and areas for action;
· use evidence to design and implement ESOL initiatives and interventions to bring about change for and with schools, providers, and communities which increase student achievement;
· manage contracts designed to enhance ESOL provision in schools;
· use robust monitoring and evaluation processes to track the progress and impact of initiatives and interventions.
We are seeking a person with knowledge, skills and experience in education as well as knowledge of second language acquisition theory and methodology. The successful applicant will hold (or be working towards) a TESOL/TESSOL qualification. A Masters in Education/TESOL/Language Studies/Linguistics would be desirable.
